The World Scout Membership Badge is very special. It is the only badge worn by every Scout around the world, no matter which country they come from. When you officially become a Scout, this badge is presented to you, welcoming you into a worldwide family that shares the same values and promise.
šø The Fleurādeālis
At the centre of the badge is the fleurādeālis, the main symbol of Scouting. It has three points, and each one stands for an important part of being a Scout:
- Service to others ā helping people and making the world a better place
- Duty to God ā following your spiritual beliefs and values
- Obedience to the Scout Law ā living by the rules that guide Scouts everywhere
Together, these three points remind Scouts how to live with purpose and integrity.
š¤ The Band and Rope
At the base of the fleurādeālis is a band, which represents the family of Scoutingālocal groups, troops, and packs that support one another.
Surrounding the badge is a rope tied in a circle. This symbolises the unity of the World Scout Movement, showing that Scouts across the globe are connected, no matter how far apart they live.
š§ The Compass Point
The arrowhead shape of the fleurādeālis points north, just like a compass. This reminds Scouts to always find the right direction in life, guiding them toward service, honesty, and unity.
ā The Two Stars
The badge also includes two fiveāpoint stars. These stars stand for truth and knowledge. Together, their ten points represent the ten points of the Scout Law, which help Scouts make good choices and grow into responsible, caring people.
You can even see this powerful symbol displayed in the header of this website, reminding everyone that once you become a Scout, you are part of something much bigger than yourselfāa worldwide movement built on friendship, service, and unity.
