Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Graaff-Reinet Scouting Community—a place where boys grow into confident, independent, and capable young men through adventure, teamwork, and hands-on learning. If your son is joining Scouts, he’s about to embark on a journey that will challenge him, excite him, and shape him in ways that school alone simply can’t.
Scouting is more than just camping and hiking. It’s about building character, learning essential life skills, and developing leadership through real experiences. You’ll see your child become more outgoing, responsible, and proud of what he can achieve. From cooking on open fires to mastering basic first aid, he’ll gain practical knowledge that will serve him for life.
This program isn’t free—there are some reasonable fees involved to cover equipment, activities, and resources. But what you’re investing in is your child’s growth and development. We also ask that you be an active part of our Scouting family. Your involvement matters. Whether it’s helping to supervise an event, coordinating logistics, or transporting boys and gear, your support helps make these adventures possible. Honestly, sometimes it’s too much for the Scout Masters to handle alone, and your help makes a big difference.
Be proud of your boy. Watch him grow, stumble, learn, and rise again. He’s not just having fun—he’s becoming a competent, respectful, and resilient young man. And you’ll be right there to cheer him on every step of the way.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re excited to have you with us.
