1st Graaff-Reinet Scout Group

When danger strikes in the wild, a Scout never backs down… and never leaves a Patrol Leader behind!
Last night at the 1st Graaff‑Reinet Scout Troop, our Scouts faced a challenge worthy of true trailblazers: constructing a makeshift stretcher to rescue their “injured” Patrol Leader and get him back to safety.

But this was no ordinary rescue mission.
This was a test of teamwork.
Of ingenuity.
Of absolute Scout grit.

The Mission Begins…

With their Patrol Leader dramatically “injured” (don’t worry—only his pride was ever at risk!), each Patrol had to spring into action. Using only their Scout skills, pioneering knowledge, and whatever materials they could gather, teams worked to build the strongest, safest, most adventure‑ready stretcher they could design.

Knots were tied.
Poles were lashed.
Plans were argued, redesigned, and triumphantly completed.
And then—because Scouts never do things halfway—the true trial began…

The Great Stretcher Races

What’s the point of building something sturdy if you don’t put it through the wringer?
Once the stretchers were complete, our brave builders had to load up their “injured” leader and race against the other Patrols.

Cue the cheering.
Cue the slipping.
Cue the heroic dashes across the field.
And above all—cue a whole lot of fun!

Some stretchers flew.
Some buckled.
Some carried their passengers like kings.
But every Patrol learned something new, and every Scout walked away grinning.

A Troop That Knows How to Adventure

The 1st Graaff‑Reinet Scout Troop isn’t just about learning skills—it’s about living them, testing them, pushing them, and laughing through every moment.

We meet most Thursdays at 6 pm during school terms, and every week brings a new challenge, new fun, and new memories.
